If you are thinking of building a great sounding snare drum, Rhythm King drum shells are the way to go.
Many of our shells are available for 120.00 or less and a hardware setup can be purchased for about the same. This gets you into an incredible sounding drum for about 250.00 if you build it yourself.
The bearing edges and snare beds are already cut for you and the shells are sealed with a nice tung oil sealer, so all that is required is a drill and a few hand tools.
Wood grain and figure will vary from shell to shell, pictures below are examples but I always try to buy the best figured wood available.
